Canon RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM telephoto lens

The Canon RF 100-500mm is a mirrorless RF mount version of the highly recommended EF 100-400mm lens. The lens is therefore also a versatile tool suitable for professional use for demanding wildlife and sports photography.

Combined with an EOS R5 or EOS R6 body, it creates a very capable package. Canon's 1.4X and 2X teleconverters also work seamlessly with this lens, autofocus also works with the 2X extender , and the image quality is also promising .

When using teleconverters, the focal length must be 300mm or more. This can be an additional hassle if you need a shorter focal length during shooting, but the solution has been made to achieve the best possible image quality at the most important, i.e. long focal lengths.

The aperture is identical to the EF 100-400mm version at the same focal lengths and only decreases to F7.1 at the 500mm setting.

The lens has a 5-stop image stabilization system, which also works with the EOS R5 and R6 in-body stabilization system, for a combined effect of 6 stops. The Canon 100-500mm includes a programmable control ring that can be used for exposure compensation, for example.
