The Canon RF 600mm F4 has been developed together with the latest EF version, so the image quality is proven and tested in demanding conditions by professionals. The optical structure and appearance are the same. But because an RF adapter is not required, the electronics have been improved.

Canon is talking about Dual Drive power , which means that the lens's focus motor gets double the power. We're looking forward to seeing what this means in practice. At least the focus will be successful even in 30fps burst mode.

Additionally, the faster data transfer enabled by the additional contacts on the EOS R series camera mount means more responsive image stabilization. The stabilization power is also now slightly increased by half an aperture stop, to 5.5 stops.

The aperture can be adjusted in 1/8 stop increments, which provides precise control over exposure when shooting video.

Due to the focus-by-wire technology, there is no focus distance window, but there are three different ratios to choose from for manual focus. In addition, two different focus distances can be stored in memory. The focus ring can also be used as a Control ring to change camera settings.

The lens is naturally compatible with the RF 1.4X and 2X teleconverters.

The lightness and position of the center of gravity make the lens uniquely easy to handle for a super telephoto lens. The center of gravity is especially helpful when using a monopod, as most of the weight is right at the tripod mount.

The optical construction consists of 17 elements in 13 groups, with two fluorite lenses and one super UD lens element. The lens uses ASC (Air Sphere Coating). This multi-layer coating technology reduces flare and ghosting more effectively than traditional techniques. The difference between the coatings is especially noticeable when shooting against backlight and if there are bright point-like light sources in the image area.
