Electronic passport photo system

The electronic passport photo system is a new police system where we send passport and ID card photos immediately after they are taken. This means that the photos are immediately available and the processing of your passport application is faster. The electronic photos are valid for six months.

After taking the photo, you can fill out an electronic application at www.poliisi.fi/asiointipalvelu. The application will include a unique photo ID that you received from us. You can pay for the application in an online bank and, in the best case, your new passport will arrive at the nearest Matkahuolto office without having to visit the police permit office!

The photo sent to the electronic passport photo system is used for the following purposes:
