The world's longest zoom lens! Briefly, the new lens' details: great image quality, mechanically robust quality for even the toughest nature trips, integrated stabilization and weather protection and longer than any other. So here's the recipe for an RF 200-800mm lens that is sure to pique the interest of nature and wildlife photographers. And this also works with 1.4x and 2x teleconverters!
The Canon RF 200-800mm enables more difficult shots of distant subjects without disturbing the target bird or wildlife. The lens is also compatible with Canon's RF series teleconverters, so at its best, you now get a truly amazing focal length:
The Canon RF 200-800mm F2.8 uses a USM focusing motor and despite the brightness, autofocus works even when using a 2x teleconverter! Focusing also works smoothly, especially when using video.
The lens' contrast, detail reproduction and image quality are at a very good level, meaning that in addition to purely fearful wildlife, it works well in landscape photography and sports photography when high magnification and impressive close-ups are needed even from a distance.

As mentioned earlier, the RF 200-800mm is not Canon's famous L-series, but in terms of appearance and mechanical quality, this is a purely professional-level lens, but the price is more affordable.
In the hand, the lens feels really high quality and the weight of a couple of kilos draws attention. Thanks to the placement of the lens elements, this feels really balanced in the hand with the camera and, with certain limitations, is also well suited for handheld shooting.
There is a Focus Preset button on the back of the lens that can also be used with the right hand. For example, you can program this button to a specific focus distance and the camera can be activated to focus at this point by pressing the button. The button can also be used as a programmable L-Fn button with a switch, which can be used to adjust different camera settings or focus modes.
In addition, the focus ring also functions as a programmable control ring for, for example, adjusting the aperture or correcting exposure.
The Canon RF 200-800mm features a 5.5-stop image stabilizer, which also works with the EOS R camera's in-body stabilizer, for a combined effect of 7.5 stops. The stabilizer's power and fast response are enabled by the new RF mount, while EF-series lenses such as the EF 300MM F2.8L II had a maximum of four stops.
The lens is weather and dust protected.
