The Canon RF 24-105mm F2.8 is not only a new lens type, but also a reference-level masterpiece like the RF 28-70mm F2, meaning that the lens has been fitted with a whole bunch of different special lenses. Canon has a lot of experience with film and production camera lenses, and this one clearly has the same sound. In addition to the sharpness and flawless image guaranteed by the special lenses, everything from the lens coatings to the undistorted color world of the final image is in order even by film standards.

According to Canon, for example, vignetting and image sharpness at the edges are better than the RF 24-70mm lens, so it is certainly suitable for even the most demanding photographers.

The Canon RF 24-105mm F2.8 L IS features a 5.5-stop image stabilizer and IBIS body stabilizer for a combined 8-stop power. Like other Canon RF lenses, the Canon RF 24-70mm F2.8L IS features a programmable control wheel (can be used to adjust aperture, exposure compensation, etc.). In addition, the lens has two programmable Lens Function buttons, similar to telephoto lenses, for example to activate a specific setting.

Special features of a videographer

The lens uses two Nano USM focus motors, which are particularly suited to the demands of video shooting. Focusing is handled internally by moving two focusing elements, so focusing works quickly and at the same time parfocality is achieved by reacting to changes in focal length. In other words, once you have focused on the subject, you can zoom in manually or with the optional motor zoom and the focus will stay precisely in place!

Focus breathing has also been minimized, meaning the size of the video image does not become distracting during video recording.

For the first time in RF series lenses, aperture can be adjusted directly from the lens using its own adjustment ring. The adjustment ring can also be locked in the automatic position and aperture adjustment is done through the camera, just like with other lenses.

The Canon RF 24-105mm F2.8 is weather and dust protected.
