A small and lightweight wide-angle lens with image stabilization! This Canon RF 24mm F1.8 IS works with full-frame cameras and is also a good wide-angle for APC-S sensor size cameras like the Canon EOS R7, giving an equivalent focal length of about 38mm.
This 24mm focal length has overtaken the more traditional 28mm option in popularity, these few millimeters are felt in the image size and the lens is more different from the 35mm width. The wider focal length also works for example in vlogging, if you are using a full-frame camera, you can also film yourself with this.
On the other hand, with new APS-C sensor size cameras, this becomes a normal lens equivalent to about 40mm focal length, meaning it is a very versatile lens.
Like the RF 35mm, the RF 24mm F1.8 also includes an optical image stabilizer with a 5-stop effective range. The lens stabilizer also works in conjunction with the cameras' in-body stabilizers, and the combined effect is quite impressive at 6.5 stops. This certainly helps with handheld landscape photography, but the clear difference to unstabilized lenses comes in video shooting.
The fast STM focusing motor also helps with video recording and capturing fast-moving subjects. In addition to the focus ring, the Canon RF 24mm also includes a programmable control ring, which can be used to change, for example, the exposure brightness or adjust the aperture.
