Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM

Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM lens

Good things are worth waiting for! The EF series 85mm. F1.8 lens was released back in 1992, making it almost 30 years old. Now this compact telephoto lens has been completely redesigned for mirrorless R-series cameras.

• Completely new optical structure, F2 aperture
• 5-stop effective image stabilization, Hybrid IS borrowed from the EF 100mm super macro
• So-called semi-macro, closest focusing distance only 35cm

Canon has announced two very bright and professional-grade 85mm lenses in RF versions. This RF 85mm F2 is clearly more compact and weighs only 500g. However, the image quality is very good and the lens is great for portraits or event photography. In addition, the lens has an effective five-stop image stabilizer. The image stabilizer and quiet STM focusing motor make the lens a good choice. also for video shooting.

The Canon RF 85mm F2 Macro, as its name suggests, focuses very close, with a closest focusing distance of 35cm, which means a 1:2 magnification ratio. For wedding and portrait photographers, this allows for impressive close-up shots of details. The lens' Hybrid IS image stabilization also compensates for slight shake/blur when shooting close-ups by taking into account small vertical movements.
