The Tamron 50-400mm is a telephoto zoom with interesting features: the physical size of a 100-400mm lens but with an exceptional 50mm starting focal length. It is great for sports and landscape photography and works in a variety of situations without having to change lenses.

The lens is so versatile that listing all its shooting possibilities would take up the space of a small short story. With one lens, you can handle everything from landscape photography to sports photography and much more, even light close-ups.

Tamron's new superzoom 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 is also well suited for video shooting. However, the dramatic zooming that is desired for video shooting across the entire zoom range can still be difficult to achieve smoothly because the zoom is a bit stiff. This can be better controlled by placing the camera on a good tripod and using a slower zoom.

The VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear focus motor is familiar Tamron quality in terms of speed and accuracy.

The reliability of this new ultra-telephoto zoom is enhanced by Tamron's VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization system, which ensures successful images even when shooting handheld.

Updating the lens via the USB port with the Tamron Lens Utility software allows for adjusting lens settings and, of course, firmware updates.
