New version! The Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD G2 is the second generation updated version of the highly popular and highly regarded Tamron 28-75mm lens.
The first version of this lens was released under the name Nikon 28-75mm and now this G2 is an updated version under the Tamron brand, meaning it is the same lens that has already gained fame for a few years among Sony photographers, for example. There are plenty of tests on the internet and YouTube!
Tamron offers a very usable focal length range, excellent brightness throughout the zoom range, and sharp image quality. All of this is packed into a nice-sized package, making the Tamron 28-75mm a mainstay for many Sony photographers, whether they're still or videographers.
On the side of the lens is a Focus Set button and a Tamron Connector Port, which is a USB-C port. The connector port works in conjunction with the Tamron Lens Utility software and allows you to customize the Focus Set button as well as adjust the focus ring's operation.
The focus motor is Tamron's latest VXD model designation. Tamron claims that the VXD is faster to respond than the RXD, and better at holding focus even during continuous focusing. The focus motor is also at least as quiet as its predecessor, which is an excellent feature, especially for video shooting.
The 28-75 G2 is protected from moisture and the front lens is coated with fluorine to repel dirt, grease and water. The lens bayonet is made of metal and has a seal around it.
