The new Sony FE 100-400mm with F5.6-8 aperture is a very compact and lightweight super telephoto zoom lens that brings the stunning details of nature, sports and travel up close.

The Sony FE 100-400mm is a super telephoto lens for Sony's FE and E-mount bodies. Previously, the only options were the significantly more expensive and larger G Master series professional lenses.
Although it is a true super telephoto, Sony has managed to squeeze its dimensions into a nice compact size. The lens length is only 164.5 mm and the filter thread is a very common 67 mm. It is even more than half as light as Sony's more robust 100-400mm GM series equivalent lens. This makes handheld shooting easy, and the lens is also a good pair with the smaller A6000 series bodies. The dust and moisture resistant construction ensures reliability even in changing weather conditions when moving outdoors.
The 86cm closest focusing distance and 0.41x magnification ratio are ideal for capturing flowers, butterflies and other small details.
If 400mm reach isn't enough, the lens is compatible with Sony's original 1.4x and 2x teleconverters, allowing for a whopping 800mm (or 1200mm film equivalent on an APS-C camera) focal length for really distant subjects.
