The Sony FE 100-400mm F4.5 is a lens for demanding enthusiasts and professionals for wildlife, photojournalism and sports photography. It follows the same basic design principles as the new 50-150mm F2 and 28-70mm F2 professional lenses.

It has very precise and distortion-free image quality, not to mention how the image looks as a whole, i.e. the bokeh and detail are beautiful, and the autofocus remains on par with newer bodies now and in the future.

The aperture is fixed at F4.5, which offers more opportunities for low-light shooting than its direct competitors and also works great with 1.4X and 2X telephoto extensions.

Despite the same focal length, the lens is completely different and a new design compared to the old FE 100-400mm model. It includes more special lenses such as 2x Super ED, 3x ED elements. It also uses the latest coatings such as Nano AR Coating II and shooting is possible when the light is at its best, i.e. in the evening and morning - also against backlight.

Autofocus: fast and silent

Sony uses the same XD focus motors as in its telephoto lenses, and there are four of them in one lens. This means fast focusing and no lag in response to subject movement. This is a great achievement for a lens with such large lens elements.

The lens's focus keeps up with the A9 III's 120FPS burst shooting. In addition to burst shooting, this speed is useful when the subject or photographer is moving, as well as when zooming - the subject is always in focus.

Weather-resistant construction and mechanically durable as in the G Master series. Outer lens surfaces coated with a dirt-repellent fluoride coating.
