Portra 800 reproduces skin tones quite well and is more contrasty and saturated than other Portra films. Portra 800 is the only one of Kodak's professional color negative films that is not based on Vision 3 motion picture films.
This film therefore enjoys overexposure more than the 160 and 400 versions, and can probably withstand overexposure by several stops in many cases. So even if there is plenty of light, by overexposing this film (i.e. shooting at a sensitivity of 200-400) you will immediately get colorful and contrasting images without losing naturalness even in portraits.
Despite its sensitivity, the film is quite grainy.
