A nifty lens: a circular fisheye with a 190-degree field of view and a full-frame fisheye in one. Fast AF. Compatible with Canon RF bodies.

The Canon RF 7-14mm is a nifty lens, at wide angle it is a fisheye wide angle that produces a round and black-edged image and at 14mm it is a wide angle that covers the entire image. So the lens has the same idea as the EF 8-15mm lens but the brightness is better and the image quality has been completely redesigned.
In addition to nostalgic skateboarding videos, the lens is quite versatile, whether it's astrophotography where the entire sky fits into the frame, producing 2D VR material, or traditional subjects such as landscapes and interiors.
This is a unique lens in many ways, Canon's first RF-compatible fisheye and the first circular fisheye lens with autofocus designed for mirrorless cameras.
Fisheye lenses have a large depth of field, but the lens also has a fast aperture and a very short focusing distance, so focusing is also useful. This RF 7-14mm is great for a bit more adventurous shooting and video shooting. All the automatic exposure functions also work.
In the wide position this is a round fisheye and at the 14mm end a diagonal fisheye which covers the full image area and therefore also works in Open gate video. In APS-C sensor size cameras the lens covers the entire image area with a setting of about 8.7mm and the lens also has a lock for this, meaning you can zoom without worrying about black edges appearing in the image (marked with the letter C) and the lock can also be done at the widest setting of 7mm.
The lens has also been clearly redesigned with video shooting in mind. In addition to fast focusing, focus breathing, i.e. the change in image size when focusing, has been minimized directly through optical design, meaning that no help from the camera is needed for this.
This is also suitable for 2D 180-degree VR productions and is immediately supported in Canon's EOS VR Utility.
The support for Drop-in filters is also great for video shooting. The same filters as the EF EOS R Drop-in adapters are suitable for this, meaning you can attach an adjustable ND gradation filter or polarizing filter to the back of the lens. This element is also part of the optical design, meaning it comes with a booklet glass filter that is held in place when the ND filter or polarizing filter is not in use.
Otherwise, the construction is of excellent L-series quality, i.e. weatherproof. The controls are RF-series, i.e. there is zoom, focus and a programmable control ring as well as aperture control from the lens and a programmable AF Lock button.
Note: A lens hood is included but this must be removed if shooting at the 7mm setting on a full-frame camera!
