Canon's new RF 16-28mm is a fast yet compact and lightweight wide-angle zoom lens. It works with full-frame cameras and features fast focusing and effective image stabilization.

The new lens is very similar to the popular RF 28-70mm lens, meaning the image quality is close to L-series levels and the lens has several special lenses and a dirt-resistant construction. But the size and price are not at the level of professional lenses.

The Canon RF 16-28mm is a good choice for landscape photography due to its focal length. The wide angle is also a stylish choice for photos and video. The lens also focuses very close (20-24cm away) and this allows for impressive compositions.

The size and weight make the lens a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts, allowing you to capture even the most expansive landscapes and, when dusk falls, capture starry skies and the northern lights thanks to the brightness and sharpness of the image.

The fast STM focusing motor is great for video shooting, the focus follows the subject and moves from one place to another quickly but also smoothly enough for video shooting. The effective image stabilization also helps when shooting video and shooting handheld, and when combined with a body equipped with a stabilizer such as the EOS R6 II, the total stabilization effect is up to 8 stops.

Includes an STM stepping motor for autofocus control. The lens group that focuses the lens is very light and is moved by a stepping motor. The advantage of this type of motor is that the movements can also be made slowly, allowing for smooth, subtle adjustments to focus when shooting video.

The lens features Canon's L-series level optics: four Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) elements and two aspherical elements improve color reproduction and reduce chromatic aberrations. Super Spectra Coating reduces lens flare and enhances contrast.

The Canon RF 16-28mm f/2.8 is weather and dust protected. Made in Japan.
