The Canon RF 24-240mm features a versatile 10x focal length range. The lens is also the first telephoto zoom for Canon's new mirrorless cameras. The Canon 24-240mm is suitable for a wide range of shooting, with this lens you can record family celebrations and sports activities. Combined with, for example, the lightweight Canon EOS RP camera, you get a great package for trips and hikes, the end result is a lighter (lens weight 750g) backpack and no more lens changes.
The Canon 24-240mm includes an effective Dynamic IS image stabilizer. The manufacturer promises that the stabilizer will be effective by five aperture values, which means that in principle, when shooting handheld with the stabilizer at a sensitivity of ISO 200, you will get an image that is as sharp as if you were shooting without the stabilizer at a sensitivity of ISO 3200.
An effective stabilizer is especially important when shooting at longer focal lengths. The lens also includes a fast Nano USM focusing motor, this new focusing motor also works particularly well when shooting video.
The usability of the lens leaves a very good impression. The large focus ring has a good feel and the cover is diamond-patterned for a secure hold. The zoom can also be locked closed if the camera is hanging from a neck strap in rough terrain, for example. The lens has a separate switch for setting the focus ring function, the ring is used to adjust focus or you can program it to perform any function you want via the camera, such as exposure compensation, sensitivity adjustment or aperture selection.
On Canon EOS R and EOS RP bodies, the lens supports intelligent DLO and distortion correction, allowing the camera to correct even minor distortions and vignetting in the image and the images are ready to use immediately.
