DJI SDR is a video transmission system for small and medium-sized video productions that transmits 1080K60P video from a camera wirelessly up to 3 kilometers away. In broadcast mode, video can be transmitted from the transmitter to an unlimited number of receivers and mobile devices. DJI SDR is especially great for filming locations that are densely built or have obstacles that a regular WiFi-based connection cannot pass through.
According to the manufacturer, the video delay is only 80 milliseconds, if the delay caused by the screen and camera is not included, the transmission delay is only 35 milliseconds! SDR technology supports a function that automatically searches for the best channel in the 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz and DFS frequency bands in the event of interference, so the connection is not interrupted.
Through the system, it is possible to control camera functions, such as adjusting aperture, shutter speed, ISO value and even taking photos or videos. See a list of compatible cameras here.
The receiver can be connected to monitors via SDI/HDMI and to smart devices via USB-C. The transmitter can be connected directly to a smartphone or tablet via WiFi. The DJI Ronin app allows you to monitor multiple cameras and also supports local recording, meaning you can watch recorded video in the app.
The DJI SDR can be powered by either USB power or an L-series, or Sony NP-F, battery, which has a slot on the back of the device. The transmitter comes with an adapter for attaching to a DJI RS 4 Pro, RS 4, or RS 3 Pro gimbal, from which it can also draw power instead of a separate battery.
