The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM is a high-quality ultra-wide-angle zoom lens. The lens has a fixed f/2.8 aperture throughout the entire focal length range. The lens is designed for full-frame bodies, but it also works with EF-S compatible bodies (in this case, the focal length equivalent is 25.6-56mm).

Large-diameter, double-faced glass-molded lens elements and UD elements reduce image distortion and chromatic aberration. New ASC and SWC coatings reduce flare and ghosting. The 7-blade diaphragm of the previous version has been replaced by a 9-blade rounded diaphragm, so that out-of-focus parts of the image are drawn more beautifully. The new III version is especially better in edge drawing than the previous version. Canon has added the lens to the list of recommended lenses for the EOS 5DS and 5DS R, the older II version was not included in this list.

The weather-sealed EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM lens has a robust and durable construction that can withstand the rigors of professional use. A redesigned five-group zoom mechanism dampens vibrations and improves shock resistance.
