The Sennheiser MKE 600 is a shotgun microphone that operates on phantom power or AA batteries. The shotgun microphone effectively eliminates side noise thanks to its directivity. The MKE 600's design is designed to minimize wind noise. In addition, a Low Cut filter eliminates disturbing low-level sounds, such as wind hum and traffic noise.

The MKE 600 is powered by phantom power via an XLR cable, if the camera does not support phantom power, the microphone can also be powered by an AA battery. The battery life is then up to 150 hours and a red light warns of the battery level 8 hours before it runs out. The microphone can be attached to the camera's accessory shoe or tripod, as well as to a separate mount, for example, to a microphone stand or boom.
