The previous manual focus Samyang 135mm was a favorite of many, it was great for portrait photography and was also very good for stargazing thanks to its top-notch image quality.
But this lens lacked autofocus and the depth of field at full F1.8 is very narrow. And it depends on which ones you get a perfect shot. Now this classic focal length has been modernized by Samyang and includes autofocus that supports Sony's advanced features such as EyeAF. Now you can focus on what's most important in terms of focusing, which is shooting.
This has also been redesigned, meaning there are more special lenses, the filter thread has been enlarged and it is fully designed for mirrorless cameras, meaning this will not be a Canon EF version. Distortion has been minimized, as should be the case for a lens of this level.
The previously mentioned astrophotography has also been taken into account in this new version of the lens. The Samyang AF 135mm F1.8 includes a focus mode for astrophotography. In this case, the lens goes into MF mode, focuses to infinity and indicates that the focus is OK with a green LED light. If the focus ring is turned, the lens indicates with a red light that the focus is not OK.
Since infinity focus is different on different bodies, you can calibrate this adjustment yourself, it can be done with a distant object or a bright star, and the setting can be saved in the lens's memory.
Otherwise, the lens is a modern Samyang, meaning it has a Focus Hold button like Sony's better lenses. The focus ring also allows you to adjust the aperture value.
