The Panasonic 24-105mm F4 lens features OIS optical image stabilization. This, combined with the Panasonic S-series in-body stabilizer, enables Dual IS 2 double stabilization. In this case, both stabilizers work together and achieve a combined effect of up to 6 f-stops.

The lens's closest focusing distance is a shorter than usual 30cm, the lens does not necessarily replace a true macro lens, but the short focusing distance allows for different angles of view. The 24-105mm also includes a handy mechanical switch that enables manual focus and at the same time reveals the lens's focusing distance markings.

Like other Panasonic L-mount lenses, the design has been designed with the requirements of video shooting in mind. Focusing is fast and quiet, and focus breathing has been minimized. The Panasonic Lumix S 24-105mm is not a Pro series lens, but it is nevertheless weather and dust-protected. There is a seal around the bayonet and the front lens is treated with a dirt-repellent fluorine coating.
