Nikon Monarch HG 8x42 binoculars

A decade ago, the Nikon HG designation was perhaps even associated with the best binoculars of the time. Now, this updated Nikon Monarch HG (High Grade) range is praised by Nikon as the most advanced ever, as it features better ED glass, higher-quality multilayer coatings on all prisms and lenses, and so-called 'Field Flattener' lenses that offer edge-to-edge sharpness.

Monarch HG differences from Monarch M7 binoculars:

  • More performance in low light conditions
  • ED glass and multilayer coatings on prisms and lenses.
  • 'Field Flattener' lenses that provide clarity and sharpness right to the edge
  • Longer eye relief: 17.9mm vs 17.1mm
  • Closer focus distance: 2m vs 2.5m
  • The body is made of magnesium alloy and covered with a coating resembling artificial leather.
  • Water resistance: 5m vs 1m (10min)
  • Comes with a more sturdy binocular case

In terms of image quality, the Monarch HG upgrades other Monarch binoculars. The difference is especially noticeable in difficult lighting conditions, such as at dawn, sunset or on cloudy days. Nikon's Field Flattener lens enables a clear and sharper image right to the edge of the field of view.

The Monarch HG looks like a Nikon EDG binocular due to the long objective tube and small single-hinged bridge. The magnesium-bodied binoculars are covered in a thin coating that partially resembles artificial leather. One of the advantages of this material is that it does not absorb dust and dirt in the same way as a rubber coating. If you are used to the rubber coating of, for example, the Monarch 5 or Monarch 7, then this artificial leather feels a little more slippery.

On the central bridge, on the eyepiece side, there is a large rubber-coated focusing ring that fits under the index finger and rotates smoothly and smoothly. The focusing speed is relatively fast, about 1.5 turns from the closest focusing distance to infinity. The closest focusing distance is 2 meters, so the binoculars are also suitable for close-up viewing of butterflies, flowers, etc.

Diopter adjustment is done using a ring under the right eyepiece, which is lockable to prevent accidental movement. Clicking the diopter ring upwards releases the diopter for adjustment, and clicking downwards locks it.

The Monarch HG binoculars have a tripod thread that allows you to attach the binoculars to a tripod or stand. You only need a tripod adapter, such as the TRA-3 , which can be purchased separately.

Kyllä laatu kiikarin eron huomaa, varsinkin hämärässä. Ikänäköinen metsästäjä tässä helpotusta. Näkökenttä on laaja, kuva on terävä.. suosittelen.
