This is probably the first third-party lens for Fuji's medium format GFX series of SLR cameras. At the same time, a few other milestones were set: the Irix 45mm F1.4 Dragonfly is the fastest medium format lens!

The cine equivalent focal length is 36mm and the depth of field is equivalent to an F1.1 lens! The Irix 45mm F1.4 offers a very impressive combination: wide-angle focal length and precise control of depth of field.

The optical construction contains 11 elements in 9 groups, one of which is aspherical. According to the manufacturer, image quality is sharp even at full aperture but improves further when stopped down, and the resolution is said to be sufficient for Fuji's 100-megapixel high-resolution bodies.

The Dragonfly in the name refers to the combination of a strong yet lightweight body and a durable outer coating. The lens is weather-sealed in five areas and the lens size does not change when focusing (no air is blown onto the sensor), so the Fuji large sensor stays clean even in harsh conditions.

Other details also meet the needs of the demanding user, aperture adjustment is possible with the adjustment ring directly on the lens. The focus ring is coated with a non-slip material and the feel is suitably dampened, suitable for precise work. The focus can also be locked.
