Newtonian is a type of reflecting telescope. As the name suggests, the telescope is named after its inventor, Isaac Newton. Structurally, a Newtonian telescope is simple: the telescope has two mirrors, a second light-collecting primary mirror at the rear of the tube, and a plane mirror at the front of the tube, which focuses the resulting image onto the eyepiece used for viewing.
