Super compact and lightweight 600mm super telephoto! This lens is also available in a longer RF 800mm version. A very portable option for nature photography, aircraft spotting or official use.
This is not your grandfather's old SLR. The lens uses DO technology, which allows for a smaller size, and its structure opens like a telescope. The lens has no mirrors, so light transmission is better.
The Canon RF 600mm F11 IS is a very interesting new product. 150-600mm zooms have been very popular with wildlife photographers, but these are quite heavy and only work with 1.4x teleconverters. Now it is possible to get a 600mm or 800mm lens and a teleconverter, making the kit a fraction of the size, weight and above all price of alternative super telephoto lenses.

The Canon RF 600mm is constructed using DO technology, although this is not apparent from the name and the lens does not include a green ring. In addition to this technology, the lens can be opened in a telescopic style. The transport length is less than 20cm and the length in the shooting position is approximately 27cm.
The lens has a fixed aperture of F11, but the light transmission is better than that of a comparable old-fashioned SLR. With better light transmission and the autofocus of the Canon EOS R series bodies that works very well even in low light, the RF 600mm works with both the RF 1.4X and 2x teleconverters! This gives you a whopping 840mm and 1200mm focal lengths. When using the teleconverters, the focusing is quieter, but usable.
To compensate for the light power, the lens has an effective five-stop image stabilizer. Thanks to the very long focal length, the depth of field is also shallow, meaning the background can be blurred to emphasize the subject. Unlike SLRs, the background is also beautifully blurred thanks to the fixed and always round aperture.
