Designed for demanding video shooting, the Manfrotto 504X video head is an updated version of the Manfrotto 504HD head. The update brings greater load capacity, a flat bottom mount, and a four-position counterweight for cameras up to 6.5kg.
Thanks to its flat 75mm base, this video head fits almost any tripod. However, if you own a video tripod with a cup, you can attach this 504X video head to it using the Manfrotto 520BALL leveling head, which is sold separately.
The 504X video head has a maximum load capacity of about 12 kg (the maximum counterweight was 6.5 kg), meaning it can support even a more robust camera, even when the camera is surrounded by additional components needed for filming. High load capacity is also needed when using longer telephoto lenses.
The video head has a four-stage counterweight system, which is optimal for a maximum load of 6.5kg. When using a counterweight, the size of the device being used must also be taken into account to ensure proper balance. The balance point should not exceed 55mm.
The hand grip is adjustable in length and can be attached to either side. There is an additional 3/8" thread on both sides of the head for attaching accessories (light, monitor, etc.). A spirit level that can be read in the dark also makes it easier to put the camera on the rack.
Compared to the Manfrotto 503HDV head, the counterweight system is better. The adjustment range is greater. The spring has four presets OFF / 2.5kg / 5kg and 7.5kg. The video head is designed to work even in temperatures down to -20 degrees. Compared to smaller heads, the 504HD has an additional 3/8" mounting thread (female thread) on each side of the head, which allows you to connect accessories such as lights, monitors, microphones, etc. without having to strain the camera.
