The TSN-99 is the latest flagship model from Japanese manufacturer Kowan, and a major upgrade to the popular TSN-880 series. It is also Kowan's first telescope to feature both an XD lens and a fluorite crystal lens, which provides greater reduction in chromatic aberration. The TSN-99 also features the largest front lens in the Kowan telescope lineup.
The Kowa TSN-99 is an excellent choice for birdwatching and challenging conditions - for those who demand top quality optics! The Kowa TSN-99 is also excellent for digiscoping.

The magnesium-framed Kowa TSN-99 telescope body is 37.8 cm long (without eyepiece) and weighs 1.8 kg . That is only 3.5 cm longer and 300 g heavier than the TNS-883 body. The body has not grown as much as you might imagine due to the increase in the size of the front lens, so this TSN-99 is one of the smallest telescopes in this series.
The fully waterproof and dustproof body is also filled with nitrogen gas to prevent internal fogging. A retractable lens hood protects the front lens from rain and sun glare.
Like the Kowa TSN-880 and TSN-770 series telescopes, this TNS-99 telescope also has a dual-action focusing mechanism. This means that two focusing screws are used to adjust the focus. The larger focusing screw is used for coarse (and fast) focusing, while the smaller focusing screw is used for fine-tuning. The focusing knobs are conveniently located on the body of the telescope, so they are easy to operate with your index and middle fingers.
The tripod shoe has two screw holes, which allows the quick release plate to be attached to two screws. This prevents the telescope from rotating relative to the quick release plate.
Eyepieces that fit telescopes are attached with a bayonet and a locking mechanism prevents the eyepiece from falling out on its own.
