The Kowa TSN-66A combines a compact size with the technology of Kowa's top models TSN-88A and TSN-99A. This means that you can enjoy nature at shorter ranges. All of these telescopes are compatible with each other with accessories and the TE-11WZ II eyepiece supplied is the same for all of them.
The magnesium-bodied Kowa TSN-66A telescope is less than 37cm long and weighs 1.5kg. The image quality is as good as its big brother models, meaning it uses the same optical coatings and fluorite crystal lens material as, for example, Kowa's top model TSN-99A. The light transmission of the lenses is top-notch, meaning the image is clear and image errors such as chromatic aberration (colorful error visible around details) are minimized.
The magnesium body, which can withstand even the toughest use, is also completely waterproof and dustproof. The telescope body is filled with nitrogen gas, which prevents internal fogging. A retractable lens hood protects the front lens from rain and sun glare. In addition, the telescope has a 72mm filter thread, for example for protective filters.
The focusing mechanism is the familiar dual-action one. This means that two focus screws are used to adjust the focus. The larger focus screw is used for coarse (and fast) focusing, while the smaller focus screw is used for fine-tuning. The focus knobs are conveniently located on the telescope body, so they are easy to operate with your index and middle fingers.
In addition, next to the eyepiece there is a separate aiming eyepiece without magnification to make finding targets faster.
