The Fuji 23mm F1.4 is a great choice if you like the 35mm format, the focal length is nice, and you need good aperture. This new lens version has everything better than before, image quality, focusing speed, and as a bonus, it also comes with weather protection.
In terms of mechanical quality, this 23mm F1.4 WR is very similar to the new 18mm F1.4 and 33mm F1.4 lenses - i.e. the body is made of sturdy metal and the only plastic is in the lens hood (although a more rectangular metal lens hood is available as an accessory for this lens!).
In addition to durability, usability is top-notch, manual focus is possible with a suitably damped focus ring. Focusing is internal, meaning the lens size does not change and the front lens element does not rotate when focusing. This allows for faster autofocus and good weather protection. Compared to the previous version, this has a more traditional switch-operated focus selection, probably due to the structural compactness.
Like its sister models, the Fuji 23mm has a complex structure, thanks to the special lenses used, there is less color shift and other distortions. Beautiful detail outside the depth of field is achieved with 9 rounded diaphragm blades. There are no less than 15 lens elements, three of which are ED elements and two are aspherical.
