The bright Fuji GF 55mm F1.7 lens is equivalent to about 44mm in cine format, making it very versatile. Fuji materials focus on portrait photography, but in terms of weather protection, fast focusing and focal length, this works in any situation.

The lens is a kind of fast premium version of the previous 50mm lens, and with the image quality this is also a much larger lens physically. But the size would suggest a much heavier device and the lens feels surprisingly light with the camera, so it works great for shooting events and reportage.

The main focus in the design is image quality, meaning the resolution is just fine for 100 megapixel sensors, and in addition to the raw resolution, the image is beautifully smooth when needed. This is due to the optical structure and there are no fewer than 11 rounded diaphragm blades, so even when slightly dimmed, the blurry areas of the foreground and background are drawn nicely and softly.

Autofocus is also faster than previous lenses thanks to the new focus motor, meaning you can get the most out of the AF capabilities of the new GFX 100 II camera, for example.

The lens is similar in usability to other FujiFilm GF lenses. The focus ring is large and has a good feel, so precise work is also possible when focusing manually. A physical aperture ring is used and aperture selection can be done directly from the lens with a third stop accuracy. In addition, the aperture ring can be used to directly select aperture automatic or a setting where the aperture value is adjusted via the camera.

The Fuji 55mm F1.7 is weather-sealed. The construction is made of durable alloy and the bayonet is made of brass.
