EU drone regulations, which affect both old and new drone pilots.

  • The maximum flight altitude is 120 meters above the surface of the ground or water.
  • Flying must always be done in visual line of sight (VLOS)
  • All drone users flying camera drones are subject to registration.
  • Depending on the category, at least an online exam is required
  • The operator registration ID received during registration must be marked on the drone being used.

The advantage of uniform regulations for helicopter pilots is clearer rules of the game, which clarifies the use of helicopters in different EU countries. The professional use and supervision of helicopters is also more uniform throughout the EU. Uniform regulations guarantee better flight safety and common procedures for both flying and potential problem situations. At the same time, the hobby and professional use of drones and drone-based imaging helicopters, known as drones, is also clarified.

The transition period ended in 2023-2024, and from the beginning of 2024, new drones placed on the market must be equipped with a C-classification label so that they can be used in the open category.

  • Drones weighing less than 250 g can be flown in the A1 subcategory.
  • A drone weighing less than 25 kg can be flown in the A3 subcategory.
  • Flying a drone weighing 250 g or more requires passing the A1/A3 online theory test.
  • Flying in the A2 subcategory is only possible with a C2 class drone.
