The Zeiss Victory SFL 8x50 combines the enormous light gathering with 50mm front lens with a very light 855 gram body. Perfect binoculars for twilight and night.

The Zeiss Victory SFL 8x50 represents an excellent combination of binocular ergonomics and optical performance, but this model is designed specifically for those who always have their days running out. It offers an optical experience almost on par with Zeiss' flagship Victory SF, but takes a huge leap forward in usability and lightness despite its massive 50mm objective lens.
This model combines the weight and agility of a traditional 42mm binocular with the unmatched brightness of a large 50mm binocular. You'll appreciate this at first glance, but if you feel like you should move your Posti address to a birdwatching tower in the spring, you'll learn to appreciate these binoculars more day by day during long viewing sessions thanks to their effortless lightness and superior low-light capabilities.
The Victory SFL 8x50 is at its clearest when the sun sets. The combination of a large 50mm front lens and 90% light transmission produces a whopping 6.25mm exit pupil, which transmits the maximum amount of light to the human eye.
This means you can distinguish colors and details well into deep twilight or the earliest dawn – when conventional binoculars only show dark shadows.
Optical performance is built around the Ultra HD concept and ED glass, and Zeiss' T* multi-layer coating further improves contrast in challenging lighting conditions and backlighting.
The Victory SFL has been designed from the ground up to be as light and compact as possible without compromising on quality. By optimizing the lens diameter and using a thinner, yet extremely durable magnesium body, the SFL 8x50 rivals many other manufacturers' smaller 42mm models in size and weight. Weighing in at just 855g, you get the performance of a 50mm binocular in a package that won't strain your neck, even on long trips.
Zeiss Victory SFL features Zeiss' FieldFlattener technology to improve image edge sharpness. In a standard binocular optical design, the image starts to soften towards the edges, with FieldFlattener technology, sharpness remains consistent across the entire image area.
In practice, a bird moving on the edge or a distant forest edge is as sharp as a target in the center of the image, and the wide 131m field of view makes it easy to find and track targets even in low light.
In addition to ergonomics and lightness, the Victory SFL's greatest asset is its viewing comfort, which rises to the level of top optics. In other words, the binoculars are practically easy to look at. They are significantly more forgiving than many other top binoculars in terms of eye placement, and the large exit pupil in particular makes it exceptionally fast for the eyes to "find" the image.
With this model, you don't need separate forehead supports or precise head alignment – ??you just raise the binoculars to your eyes and enjoy a sharp image right away. This significantly reduces eye fatigue and speeds up your reaction to situations.
SmartFocus technology makes the SFL series' focus one of the best on the market. The focus wheel is conveniently placed under the index finger, and has a silky smooth feel.
The focus transmission is carefully thought out: about 1.4 turns change the focus from 1.8 meters all the way to infinity. This means you can find precise focus lightning fast, but thanks to the large ring and good friction, the focus is extremely precise, and you don't have to "saw" back and forth even with thick gloves on on cold evenings.
The SFL 8x50 focuses exceptionally close for a large objective lens, just 1.8m away. This opens up completely new uses for the binoculars: you can go from following an owl circling in the evening sky to studying the wing patterns of a moth resting right at your feet in high definition in a split second. Combined with the fast focusing, these binoculars are a great tool for all kinds of nature observation.
