The lens is ideal for video shooting thanks to its continuously variable aperture and quiet STM focusing motor. The AF/MF switch allows for quick switching between autofocus and manual focus. Supports Sony's face and eye detection.

The lens elements are coated with HD Nano Multi-Layer Coating, which reduces reflections and protects the structure from moisture. The lens is protected against splashes of water and dust.
