The VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear focus motor is a familiar Tamron quality in terms of speed and accuracy. The quiet focus motor is also useful for video shooting.

The reliability of this new telephoto zoom is enhanced by Tamron's VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization system, which ensures successful images even when shooting handheld.

Updating the lens via the USB port with the Tamron Lens Utility software allows for adjusting lens settings and, of course, firmware updates.

The lens has the same 67mm filter thread as other Tamron Sony-compatible zooms. Using special filters such as ND or polarizing is advantageous because one and the same filter is sufficient for the entire model series.
