Tamron continues to pamper Sony photographers with new wide-angle lenses compatible with full-frame sensors. The Tamron 20mm f2.8 is compact and lightweight thanks to its reasonable aperture. With its focal length and fast autofocus, this is a great lens for videographers, for example. Thanks to its lightness, it is also easy to balance on a gimbal stabilizer.

On a full-frame camera like the Sony a7, this lens has a striking wide angle. On an APS-C camera like the A6300, this lens is equivalent to about a 32mm wide angle focal length.

The lens also has better than usual close-up capabilities, with a closest focusing distance of just 11cm and a magnification ratio of 1:2. This allows for impressive close-ups. The Tamron 20mm features an Optimized Silent Drive focus motor, which is fully compatible with Sony's advanced focusing features such as EyeAf.

The lens uses a high-quality BBAR coating that effectively reduces reflections. This is especially helpful when shooting against backlight, when the light is often at its most beautiful.

The lens construction is weather and dust-proof, and the outer lens surface is coated with dirt-repellent fluorine.
