A small and handy Swarovski telescope for situations where size and weight are crucial. The Swarovski STC Spotting Scope is smaller than an A4 sheet of paper, so it easily fits into any backpack or hand luggage.

Swarovski STC is a straight telescope. Also available as an angled model Swarovski (STC 17-40x56) . The advantages of a straight telescope include that it is easier to look down a slope and it is easier to look out of a car window.

STC is an abbreviation for 'Straight Telescope Compact'. Unlike the popular STX/STS telescopes, this STC novelty is not modular. However, the design of the STC is derived from the larger STX and STS telescopes, and the eyepiece is the same full-size eyepiece but only firmly integrated into the small telescope body. Since the eyepiece has not been physically reduced, the image quality has been maintained at an excellent level. The full-size eyepiece also allows phonescoping with the same adapters as with the STX ( AR-S adapter ring and VPA phone adapter ).

The closest focusing distance is 3.4 meters and focusing from this closest focusing distance to infinity takes about 2.5 turns. From 3.4 meters to 10 meters it takes about 1.5 turns, and from 10 meters to infinity it takes about 1 turn. Focusing is relatively slow, but on the other hand this allows for better fine-grained focusing. The wide focusing ring used for focusing is located in the middle of the tube, exactly where it is most natural to use it.

Like Swarovski binoculars and larger telescopes, the Swarovski STC is lined with a protective rubber coating that covers almost the entire telescope body. In addition to helping protect the optics, the rubber coating allows for a firmer grip even when the surface of the binoculars is slightly wet.

The small size allows for handheld viewing, as long as it supports itself on, for example, a tree trunk, rock, backpack, etc. The telescope comes with a support called a Half Shell by Swarovski, which allows you to support the telescope without worrying about the contact surface interfering with the focusing ring. The Half Shell attaches to the 1/4' tripod thread at the bottom of the tube.
