EL = Ergonomic, Light
The Swarovski EL series is the most popular collection, especially among birdwatchers. According to Swarovski, the EL series binoculars combine maximum usability with innovation and design, without forgetting optical quality.
The award-winning EL 42 binoculars are often considered the best binoculars in the world. The popularity of the Swarovski EL series binoculars with a 42mm front lens is based on the fact that they offer an excellent compromise between brightness and size of the binoculars. The EL 42s are especially popular with professional birdwatchers, but they are also excellent for wildlife viewing, sports and just general use. With 8.5x magnification and a 42mm front lens, the Swarovski EL 8.5x42 is the most popular choice for birdwatching.

Main features
The binoculars are made of magnesium alloy and have an "open" body. The binoculars' tubes are connected by a double bridge, whose slender tubes are open in the middle, giving you a good and secure grip. For example, when you are climbing in difficult rocky terrain, you don't want the binoculars hanging from your neck to swing and hit against a rock wall or tree trunk. In this case, the ability to carry the binoculars securely in one hand is a great feature.

Like many other binoculars, Swarovski binoculars are lined with a protective rubber coating that covers almost the entire body of the binoculars. The rubber coating helps protect the optics and allows for a firmer grip, even when the surface of the binoculars is slightly wet.
The appropriately sized focus wheel fits comfortably under the index fingers. The EL 8.5x42's focus has a good feel and smooth movement. The closest focus distance is 1.5 meters. To focus from the closest focus distance to infinity, a long movement of about 900 degrees, or 2.5 rotations of the focus wheel, is required. Changing the focus from 10 meters to infinity requires a rotation of about 115 degrees of the focus ring. The advantages of a long focus movement are that it enables precise focusing.
There is a relatively large focus range beyond infinity, as much as 6 diopters, and the diopter adjustment range is large, +-5 diopters. The difference in visual acuity between the right and left eye can therefore be corrected over a wide range. The diopter adjustment is incremented in 1/3 diopter increments.
In most binoculars, the diopter adjustment is done with an adjustment ring around one of the eyepieces, but in Swarovski binoculars the diopter adjustment is placed in the focus ring. The diopter lock is unlocked by turning the focus ring 180 degrees counterclockwise. After this, the focus wheel is pulled outwards, allowing you to set the power scale. The diopter is locked by turning the focus ring 180 degrees clockwise. The diopter scale on Swarovski binoculars is really clear, so it is easy to remember and quickly adjust to your own setting later if you have lent the binoculars to someone else or have accidentally changed the diopter adjustment yourself.

Swarovski EL binoculars come with a carrying strap, carrying case, lens cleaning cloth, front lens caps and eyepiece caps.
