A really interesting 20-60mm focal length. Wide-angle and fast zoom for full-frame L-Mount cameras.

This Sigma lens has a rare 20-60mm focal length. The lens works with full-frame cameras and offers a very bright and wide-angle focal length. The lens can capture wide landscapes both day and night, as well as details with the handy telephoto lens.
In terms of size and price, this is a really interesting alternative to the manufacturers' own kit lenses.
What does this 4mm difference compared to a traditional 24-70mm zoom mean? A lot!
At the wide-angle end, every millimeter counts, and 20mm is about 17% wider than 24mm. This means you can capture that beautiful landscape or cramped interior in its entirety. In addition, when shooting video, the wider image gives you plenty of room to maneuver: you can use the camera's active digital stabilization (which always crops the image slightly) and the end result is still a nice wide-angle shot. For example, when shooting while walking, the stabilization can be almost as good as a separate gimbal at best.
Like Sigma's new lenses, the autofocus is fast and accurate. What about the optical quality? With a price tag of just over 800 euros and a small size, you naturally won't get a pristine, flawless image right down to the edges. For example, there is vignetting, but sharpness and contrast are at a very good level even at wide angle. In today's style, the design relies on the camera's internal software corrections to take care of some of the distortion, and that's exactly why the device is so light.
The Sigma 20-60mm has a variable aperture, meaning f/2.8 is only available at the widest setting. At around 28mm it drops to f/3.5 and at full zoom it is f/4.
The lens certainly won't replace expensive fixed wide-angle lenses for demanding stargazing, for example. But if you're looking for one lens for everything and want to try your luck with the northern lights, for example, the 20mm focal length combined with the f/2.8 aperture gives you a really good shot.
