The Sigma 105mm is a completely new close-up lens designed for mirrorless cameras. With this 105mm focal length, you get a working distance of 14 centimeters at the maximum 1:1 magnification ratio, which helps when photographing easily frightened insects and also provides better light to the subject.
The Sigma 105mm features 9 rounded diaphragm blades, which help to create beautifully soft areas outside the depth of field and top-notch image quality, meaning that you can find sharpness from edge to edge. So in addition to close-ups, this works for all kinds of images, from portraits to sports photography.
The Sigma 105mm DG DN features the aperture ring familiar from Sony's G-Master lenses. The ring has a 1/3 stop click setting, but this can be turned off (for video use, for example). Sigma has refined this ring even further and the aperture can be locked in the automatic position, meaning that the settings won't be lost when you put it in a camera bag, for example.

There are proper settings for adjusting the autofocus, like a real macro lens: the focus can be limited to the entire area, close range or only to longer distances. This allows you to limit the focus search and speed up the subject finding. There is also an AF Lock button to stop the focus or activate Sony's Eye AF feature. Sigma's 105mm Art is compatible with all of Sony's advanced focusing features.
The optical design is completely new and modern, meaning this is a lens designed entirely for mirrorless cameras. Image quality is the most important thing in critical close-up photography, and in this regard, the Sigma 105mm Art does not disappoint.
The lens is weather and dust protected.
