The Leica APO-Macro-Elmarit-SL 100mm f/2.8 is the manufacturer's first macro lens for the L-mount system. In terms of focal length, the lens also functions as a fast telephoto lens, as usual.

The lens is made in Japan, meaning it was made in collaboration with another manufacturer. But as before, changes have been made in the form of stricter quality control and possibly different coatings. In addition, the mechanical quality and weather protection have been updated to Leica's required level.

The closest focus is 30cm from the sensor level and at the maximum 1:1 magnification ratio you get a working distance of 14cm, this helps when photographing easily frightened insects and the subject also gets better light. In addition, the lens is compatible with 1.4x and 2x teleconverters, so you can increase the magnification even further. Also when using teleconverters, focusing to infinity works normally, so these give you quite a lot of versatility in how you use the lens.

The Leida 105mm F2.8 features 9 rounded diaphragm blades, which help to create beautifully soft areas outside the depth of field and top-notch image quality, meaning edge-to-edge sharpness. So in addition to close-ups, this works for all kinds of images, from portraits to sports photography.
