The Samyang 14-24mm is the manufacturer's first wide-angle zoom. The F2.8 aperture, small size, and 77mm filter thread make this a lens for traveling landscape and videographers.
This new lens from Samyang has been designed in collaboration with the German optics company Schneider-Kreuznach. Schneider-Kreuznach is a traditional player known for its high-end products and has done similar design collaborations with, for example, Phase One.
The screens on these medium format professional cameras are such that you can expect great image quality from this lens too!
The Samyang 14-24mm contains 15 elements in 11 groups. Eight of the lenses are special elements. With the lens structure, Samyang aims for the best possible and distortion-free image quality, also in the peripheral areas of the image. The lens is very compact in size compared to the aperture and focal length, weighing only 445g. The lens also has a 77mm filter thread, which is not a given in such wide lenses.
Edge definition is important in landscape photography when you want the sharpest possible image. In terms of brightness, the lens is also great for photographing starry skies and night landscapes.
The Samyang 14-24mm features autofocus, and Sony's advanced features such as eye focus and subject detection work on the lens. The lens has a programmable button for activating focus features, for example. In addition, the lens body has a USB-C port for software updates.
The Samyang 14-24mm F2.8 is weather and dust protected.
