Pentax SD 9x42 WP binoculars with 9x magnification and a 42mm front lens. In contrast to the traditional 8x and 10x magnifications, these Pentax S-series binoculars feature a slightly less common 9x magnification. This is especially great for the viewer who needs more than 8x magnification, but for whom 10x is too unstable to hold in the hands for extended viewing sessions.
The binoculars are excellent for bird watching, nature observation, and just as general binoculars.
8x binoculars bring a target 100m away to 12.5m away
9x binoculars bring a target 100m away to 11.1m away
10x binoculars bring an object 100m away to 10m
Pentax SD 9x42 WP is a bright and compact binocular with an excellent grip surface. The binoculars have an "open" body, meaning the binoculars' tubes are connected by a double bridge. This allows for a good and secure grip on the open tubes in the middle. For example, when climbing in difficult rocky terrain, you don't want the binoculars hanging from your neck to swing and hit against a rock wall or tree trunk. In this case, the ability to carry the binoculars firmly in one hand is a great feature. The rubber coating on the binoculars' bodies provides additional grip, even when the binoculars' bodies are wet.
The large, notched focus wheel fits easily under the index finger. The focus ring is smooth and has a good feel. Focusing from the closest focusing distance to infinity requires approximately 550 degrees, or one and a half (1.5) rotations of the focus ring.
When you need extra support for binocular viewing, you can use the separately purchased tripod adapter to attach the binoculars to a tripod or other tripod.
