The Panasonic DMW-DMS1 is a smart and completely cable-free shotgun microphone for Panasonic Lumix cameras. Forget about dangling audio cables, forgotten batteries and separate recorders: this microphone attaches directly to the camera's hot shoe, from where it transmits digital audio to the camera and draws its power at the same time.

Weighing just 100 grams, the microphone is the perfect choice for run-and-gun photographers, vloggers, and those working with gimbals.

Six microphones in one package

The DMW-DMS1 adapts to any situation. Thanks to its large 10mm microphone capsules and advanced beamforming technology, you can choose from six different microphone patterns at the touch of a button:

• Forward (Heart / Super Heart): A traditional shotgun microphone setup that picks up sound from in front of the camera and suppresses background noise.
• Stereo / Wide Stereo: Excellent mode for recording spatial atmosphere, nature sounds or live music.
• Backwards: The perfect setting when you're filming an event and want to record your own narration from behind the camera.
• Two-way: Picks up sound from the front and back. Great for interviews where the interviewer is behind the camera and the subject is in front.

32-bit float storage

Adjusting the sound level on the fly is often a hassle. With compatible cameras, the DMW-DMS1 supports 32-bit float recording, which utilizes two A/D converters. This means that the audio track will not be distorted (clipped) into an unusable state, even if the subject suddenly shouts or the volume suddenly increases. The microphone can withstand sound pressure levels of up to 120 dB, so you can film at loud concerts without worrying about large volume fluctuations.

No camera operation sounds or wind noise

When shooting handheld, bumps on the camera body and the sounds of your fingers are easily transmitted to the microphone. The DMW-DMS1 features an internal floating structure (shock-mount) that absorbs vibrations caused by handling the camera. For outdoor shooting, a large deadcat windscreen is included, and the microphone's internal processing is designed to eliminate wind noise without silencing the sound.
