The Nikkor 300mm f/4E is the first F-mount NIKKOR lens to feature a Phase Fresnel lens element. The Phase Fresnel (PF) lens element makes the lens compact. Weighing just 755g, the NIKKOR 300mm f/4 is significantly smaller and lighter than its predecessor.
The Nikon 300mm f/4E lens's VR (Vibration Stabilizer) allows you to shoot at shutter speeds up to 4.5 stops slower. A new SPORT mode lets you pan around fast-moving subjects clearly. SPORT mode is designed to produce a stable viewfinder image when shooting fast-moving subjects. This allows for continuous shooting speeds and a shorter shutter lag than usual, which is comparable to when the image stabilizer is not used.
Three focus modes are available: A/M (autofocus has priority even when using the focus ring), M/A (allows instant switching from autofocus to manual focus in AF mode) and M, which is manual focus.
The fluorine coating on the front lens effectively repels water, dust, and dirt without compromising image quality, so you can shoot with the lens even in harsh conditions.
The AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4 lens comes with the new HB-73 lens hood and CL-M3 lens case. The optional RT-1 tripod ring adds stability by allowing the lens to rotate freely and makes it easy to switch between portrait and landscape orientations when shooting from a tripod.
Standard accessories: Front lens cap LC-77, rear lens cap LF-4, lens hood HB-73, lens case CL-M3
