The latest NIKON 2x teleconverter, featuring a Series III aspherical lens element, is designed to meet the stringent quality requirements set by professional FX-mount bodies.
Recommended only for fast telephoto lenses. When using a teleconverter, the light output decreases by two stops. For example, when used with a 300mm f/2.8 lens, the field of view becomes equivalent to 600mm at f/5.6. The light output of an f/4 lens changes to f/8, which means that autofocus can no longer be used on all bodies (focusing is then done manually).
