The Lomo MC-A is Lomography's 2026 cultural achievement for photography : a completely new film camera with autofocus, automatic and manual controls, plus features like multiple exposures and a built-in flash.
Note: Our cameras are from the latest batch, meaning that according to the manufacturer, problems related to film transfer have been fixed with these! And when you buy from us, you of course get the normal warranty and the easy practices of a Finnish operator.
Lomography has become known as a creative force in analog photography, releasing some pretty wild cameras, films, and everything related to film photography. Despite their long history, this Lomo MC-A was a big surprise, as it is a premium metal-bodied compact camera with very advanced features like Lidar-based autofocus.
The camera's optics are a multi-coated 32mm f/2.8 Minitar glass lens , which produces a sharp image and vibrant colors. The focal length of 32mm is an excellent general purpose lens, being slightly wider than a traditional 35mm lens. As mentioned, the optics are multi-coated and a real lens compared to many other film cameras today, but it still has the character of the classic models of the holiday.
The most significant difference from many other new film cameras is the proper autofocus . Because the lens has a large aperture (f/2.8) and a minimum focusing distance of only 0.4 meters , the depth of field is very narrow at close distances. In this case, just estimating the area focus would not be enough to guarantee sharp images. Thanks to autofocus, you can take close-ups and portraits with confidence that your subject will be sharp.
However, for street photographers, the camera also retains the classic Zone Focus , which allows you to lock the focus at a pre-set distance (0.4m, 0.8m, 1.5m, 3m, infinity) for fast-paced situations.
The Lomo MC-A offers exceptional control options for a compact camera: you can shoot carefree with Program Auto, control depth of field with Aperture Priority, or adjust exposure completely manually in manual mode. The camera also warns you if the shutter speed is below 1/30 to ensure sharp images even when shooting handheld in low light.
The camera supports unlimited multiple exposures , meaning you can take as many pictures as you want in the same frame. Long exposures are possible with the Bulb setting. In addition to the built-in flash, the camera has a PC-Sync interface for external studio or hand-held flashes. This makes the camera a surprisingly capable tool for studio photography as well.
Using the internal flash also works just fine, sometimes the flash surprises you when it gets a little dark (for example, in the Olympus Mju-2 camera you always have to select the flash off separately after turning it on), but in Lomo the flash is always on by default and the automatic mode comes into play when you turn the flash on. You can use colored gel filters on the flash in a very Lomo-like style, which can be used to change the color of the light.
The film sensitivity adjustment is also versatile. The camera reads DX-coded films automatically, but in manual mode you can adjust the ISO between 12 and 3200. This is a big advantage for photographers who want to press or develop their film or use canned film themselves.
