Two cameras and wider shooting possibilities

In addition to the main camera, the Insta360 Luna Ultra features a true optical 3x telephoto lens. The main camera is a wide-angle camera with a large 1-inch sensor, while the telephoto camera utilizes a 1/1.3" CMOS sensor.

The telephoto lens makes the device much better suited for shooting distant subjects than an action camera, for example. The manufacturer's lossless 6x zoom or 12x digital zoom allows you to get close to the subject, and the effect of the mechanical gimbal is especially noticeable when zoomed in, which keeps the image steady.

For more demanding use, the camera offers a 10-bit I-Log recording mode, which preserves a wide tonal range and provides flexibility for post-processing and color grading. If you want the material ready for publication without post-processing, you can choose from ready-made color profiles built on the basis of Leica cooperation.

The device also features Focus Breathing Compensation, a feature familiar mainly from larger SLR cameras. This feature automatically compensates for image cropping when focusing from the foreground to the background.

Detachable screen makes it easy to shoot alone

A handy feature for solo photographers is Luna's detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen. The screen can be snapped off the camera and used as a wireless monitor and remote control from up to 20 meters away. The screen also has a built-in microphone, so you can position the camera further away, walk into the frame, and record your voice clearly using the screen.

The camera also has a built-in four-channel microphone system with a variable polar pattern to suit the situation. The camera supports 32-bit audio recording, which prevents distortion during sudden, loud sound spikes. The device is directly compatible with Insta360 wireless microphones without the need for separate receivers.

Deep Track 5.0 tracking and low-light imaging

Luna Ultra utilizes three separate AI chips, two of which are optimized for image quality processing. The "PureVideo" low-light mode, large 1-inch sensor, and direct processing produce detailed images even in low light, outperforming typical flagship phones in low-light photography.

It's worth watching example videos of this low light mode on YouTube, even in pitch darkness you can get very detailed and good quality video compared to full-frame system cameras! In other words, when the sensor is small and the aperture is F2, the image is processed to its full potential, and this is fine for Vlog use and documentary material!

The camera's automation is based on Deep Track 5.0 tracking. When a subject is selected on the touchscreen, the 3-axis gimbal automatically tracks its movement and keeps the subject in the center of the frame. The system also recognizes groups and can track multiple people at once, which is especially useful when working with a moving camera.
