External appearance and structure

If you were to rank binoculars based on their looks, Fujinon's Hyper Clarity binoculars would be at the top. The HC binoculars feel high-quality from the first touch. The sturdy frame, magnesium alloy construction, and grippy rubber coating make the binoculars a pleasure to handle.

The binoculars are a bit heavier than other binoculars with similar specs, but the weight is nicely balanced, so there is no annoying front or rear weight here.

The roughened focus wheel, which fits comfortably under the index finger, is slow in gear when compared to, for example, Swarovski or Kowa. This smoothly rotating focus ring must be rotated about 480 degrees to focus from 3 meters to infinity. That's pretty much when you want the view to quickly go from close to far, but this allows for fine-grained focus. The closest focus distance is 2 meters.

The diopter adjustment (+- 4 dpt) is located behind the right eyecup. The adjustment ring in question does not have a lock, but it is stiff enough in resistance that it does not accidentally move to the wrong position.

The twist-up, metal-framed eyecups with a rubber ring at the top feel comfortable on the eyes. The eyecups twist into three positions, fully down, fully out, and in between.

The clamp between the tubes on the front of the binoculars can be unscrewed by rotating it, revealing a standard 1/4-inch tripod thread. It is possible to attach a separately purchased tripod adapter to this, which can be used to attach the binoculars to a tripod or tripod.

Image quality and field of view

8x magnification and a field of view of approximately 135 meters make viewing more comfortable. A wide field of view is an advantage when "scanning" the sky, spotting birds from tree branches, or when, for example, following a bird in flight. 8x magnification is also a good option for viewing objects handheld.

The image displayed by the Fujifilm Fujinon 8x42 is clearly bright. The 3-dimensionality of the image gives the impression that you are in the middle of the viewing area.
