The DJI AP100 is a parachute designed for the Matrice 400 series drone, helping the drone meet the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) C5/C6 safety requirements in certain flight conditions. The parachute assists in safety planning in standard scenarios, such as flights over populated areas (STS-01) and flights beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) (STS-02).

Upon detecting drone interference, the shade will automatically deploy in less than 600 milliseconds. The shade is available when the drone's descent speed is less than 5 meters per second. The shade will also be automatically deployed if the drone crosses the geocaging area boundary set in the DJI Pilot 2 app.

The device is not dependent on the drone's power supply, but for safety reasons, the device includes its own power supply with an operating time of about an hour.

After the shadow is triggered, the AP100 flashes bright lights and emits an alarm sound for about an hour to help find the drone and warn people. Once the drone is found, the sound can be turned off using the button on the side of the device.

The AP100 shade is gas-powered and must be replaced after use. The manufacturer also recommends replacing the AP100 module every 3 years, regardless of your own inspection activities.
