The Zeiss Victory SFL 12x50 offers exceptionally powerful 12x magnification for remote sensing. Light output and magnification power.

Designed for true remote sensing of wide open spaces, coastlines and mountains, the Zeiss Victory SFL 12x50 represents an excellent combination of binocular ergonomics and optical performance, offering an optical experience almost on par with Zeiss' flagship Victory SF, but taking a huge leap forward in usability and lightness despite its massive 50mm objective lens.
This model combines the weight of a regular 42 mm pair of binoculars, the brightness of a large 50 mm pair of binoculars, and the most extensive, massive 12x magnification in the series. This is appreciated at first glance, but if you feel like you should transfer your address to a birdwatching tower in the spring, you will learn to appreciate these binoculars more day by day during long viewing sessions thanks to their effortless lightness and high magnification.
The Victory SFL 12x50 is designed for situations where conventional 8x or 10x magnification is simply not enough. The 12x magnification bridges distances and brings delicate objects right in front of your eyes, while the large 50 mm front lens ensures that the image remains clear even in twilight. The downside of high magnification is that the image is more sensitive to shaking when viewed handheld. Therefore, the use of a monopod or a separate tripod adapter (the binoculars are equipped with a tripod thread) with the 12x50 model is highly recommended for long-term observation to achieve maximum sharpness.
By optimizing the lens diameter and using a thinner, yet extremely durable magnesium body, this binocular, which can even replace a telescope in certain situations, weighs only 872g – less than many competitors' smaller 42mm models.
Optical performance is built around the Ultra HD concept and ED glass, which produces a bright, natural and color-corrected image. Zeiss' T* multi-layer coating enhances contrast and enables 90% light transmission.
The Zeiss Victory SFL features Zeiss' FieldFlattener technology to improve the sharpness of the edges of the image. In a standard binocular optical design, the image starts to soften towards the edges, with FieldFlattener technology the sharpness remains consistent across the entire image area. In practice, a bird moving on the edge or a distant forest edge is just as sharp as an object in the center of the image.
In addition to ergonomics and lightness, the Victory SFL's greatest asset is its viewing comfort, which is on par with top optics. In other words, the binoculars are practically easy to look at. They are significantly more forgiving in terms of eye placement than many other top binoculars.
SmartFocus technology makes the SFL series' focus one of the best on the market. The focus wheel is conveniently placed under the index finger, has a silky smooth feel, and focuses extremely precisely.
The SFL 12x50 also focuses exceptionally close, at just 1.8m. This opens up completely new uses for the binoculars: you can go from following a seal resting on an archipelago islet to examining insects right at your feet in high definition in a split second.
