The Sony 28-60mm has a rarer focal length. A few millimeters have been cut from both the wide-angle and telephoto ends. This has resulted in a very small size. In transport mode, the lens is only 45mm long and weighs 167g. For shooting, the lens opens and the length changes when zooming.

However, it uses three aspherical lens elements and rounded diaphragm blades. According to Sony, there has been no compromise on image quality due to the size, and the image remains sharp even at the edges of the image field.
